Pause

In a contrivance whose simplicity has engendered countless progeny, this protagonist’s ability to freeze time finds him trapped on the edge of death. He stands before a frozen bullet, and he has all the time in the world to think and observe; but, his only course of action is to resume time and die.

Can you guess how the story ends? Does he remain frozen, unable to take the last plunge? Does he embrace his fate? Would you? Even given all eternity, would you ever let that bullet fly again?
