Permutations Exhausted


In the distant future, an extremely thorough, critical analysis of existing literature determines that no more worthwhile works can ever be produced, and the government must take a vote to eliminate all institutions of literature production.

This story treads some of the same paths as previous works I have written, wherein the vast collective works of humanity have brought the artistic process to a stand-still. Of course, if a system could be produced to evaluate literature, might one not also be produced to generate it? Could we, accidentally or intentionally, automate creativity? I should expect not. But, then again...
