The Greatest Salesman
of All Time and Space

A man finds his life saved by a time-traveller. This traveller then reveals himself to be a time-travelling salesman of time-machines. He gives a speech about the nobility of heroes and the rescued man’s duty to “pass it on”, and in the end sells him a time-machine and a time-machine sales license.

We have all encountered these sorts of schemes, wherein a company promises to make you rich by having you sell their product while conscripting new salesmen. Sometimes, these products seem genuinely good, and the companies invariably claim the salesmen you create will fair well just as you will fair well; nevertheless, the same sense of madness clings to all those who constrain themselves to be salesmen for a worthy cause.
