More Than a Fair Trade

In “More Than a Fair Trade”, a man with nothing left to live for is granted the opportunity to sacrifice his life to save the life of an unknown stranger. There is always the possibility that he is saving a person who ought not be saved, but it still seems worth it in his mind.

I am thankful such scenarios do not exist in reality. Which of us might not at some low point be tempted to nobility with an added escape from present misery? The best of us might clock-out the first time life grew hard, and the lives saved could never replace those sacrificed.
