Dangerous Nights

The last time I wrote of a rescuer it ended badly with a man motivated by greed and deception. However, in “Dangerous Nights” compassion drives a man to save a magical creature of unknown nature. There is no telling whether this creature will recover and wander off or destroy him and possibly his neighbors on awaking. Does compassion have the right to risk the lives of those who do not subscribe to it? And yet, how can it do less?
