Jump Lane
In a comedic scene out of my nightmares, a man visiting relatives overseas follows his GPS across a new jump lane, only to be told once airborn that only certified vehicles ought to attempt jump lanes, as older vehicles may not reach adequate speeds or have proper drag forms. He watches in horror as the road ends in sheer sky and the opposite edge of the suspended road rapidly approaches, only to have his wheels touch down gently and safely.
I sincerely doubt any engineer would ever think to save resources by installing jump sections into bridges, but the idea makes wonderful fiction.
